Senior Brown Belt (2nd Gup)

Traditional Meaning:

The oak tree is continuing to grow and striving to reach towards the depth of space. High brown belt is a student who wishes to explore the universe in great depth for additional knowledge. The Hyung and techniques are increasingly more difficult to learn, but the student´s dream of becoming a black belt is propelling them forward.

Our Interpretation:

As a high brown belt we expect you to start taking a more active role in the instruction of the lower belts. You can no longer lead by example, but must enthusiastically help your peers by passing on your knowledge to them. However, your own new techniques are very difficult to learn and Hwa-Rang is a more complex Hyung. You must continue to train with diligence and further your own knowledge. Also, you must realize that while we expect you to start helping your fellow martial artists, you are neither a black belt nor an instructor so the ultimate responsibility falls in the hands of the instructor. You can see that your black belt is within reach and should start to get more and more excited about reaching that goal. You also need to start thinking about your breaks for your black belt test and begin to attempt them so your black belt test goes more smoothly.
